Lilleshall Hall Golf Club

Having been sold by the Duke of Sutherland in 1917, Lilleshall Hall and its estate passed through various hands until 1932, it's then owner decided to devlop a golf course. The owners inspired choice of H S Colt (famous for Wentworth, Woodhall Spar, Sunningdale and Royal St. Georges) as architect, resulted in a stunning course which still quite clearly bears the masters hallmark.
The course, together with the magnificent tree and rhododendron plantation lining its approach, extends to some 165 acres and has been described as the 'Pine Valley of England'.
The 5,813 yard course is some 500ft above sea level and is characterised by its tight fairways cutting through mature trees and the small, fast, undulating and tricky greens. The timeless rural environment makes an unrivalled setting in which to play golf. Accuracy, exemplary course planning and a sound putting stroke are required to achieve a good round coming into play on several holes.
Played over the years by many of the well known professional players from Shropshire such as Ian Woosnam, Sandy Lyle and Peter Baker never mastered but always enjoyed.
The clubhouse that greets you at the top of the drive has the striking feature of a peripheral first floor balcony providing stunning views of several fairways and greens and noted for its fine dining experience.
The members are fortunate to enjoy their golf in the sylvan setting, quietly tucked away in rolling Shropshire countryside, untroubled by traffic noise or urban encroachement. Picturesque, relatively flat and easy walking make it a popular favourite with visiting golfers.
