NEW PARTNER COURSES

Fairmont St Andrews

Open Fairways is pleased to announce that Fairmont St Andrews has rejoined the Open Fairways privilege card scheme in light of the imminent reopening of their newly redesigned Torrance course

Fairmont St Andrews has two championship courses. Rated at 18th by Conde Naste Traveler in the Best Golf Resort in the world category, the courses offer breathtaking views over the golden beaches and medieval skyline of ST Andrews, the Home of Golf.

When the Torrance Course opens in July 2009 many of its fans who have enjoyed playing the course over the past five years will notice the subtle changes to the popular layout. On many holes the line from the tee has changed. On a few the green sites are different too. The greens, usually considered the best and fastest in the area, are still the same, perfect. Overall, the 2010 Open Final Qualifying course is superb and will be fun for all levels. This year the course will host both the Cleveland Golf/Srixon Scottish Senior Open, one of the prestigious events on the European Senior Tour and PGA Europro Tour Championship.

The Kittocks course name is taken from the SSSI area of land on the course that is inhabited by a family of deer. This protected area comes into view on several holes and provides abundant wildlife to be seen during a round on Kittocks, including pheasants, rabbits and hares, deer, grouse and badgers. The coastal sea view land the course is built on reminded the legendary golfer Gene Sarazen of Pebble Beach when he first visited the site, as one of the course’s original architects. The Kittocks course will also feature heavily in a new production of the new JJB Slazenger golf advert with Tony Jacklin, Andrew Murray and Gary Wolstenholme. The 30 minute show will be broadcast on Sky Sports Extra and Setanta Golf.

The Torrance and the Kittocks, have their first tees close by the large practice area and this allows every golfer, while on their way to the start of the round, to hit chips, putts, irons and most importantly, a few tee shots going in the same direction as their opening drive - a chance to rehearse properly for their most important shot of the day.

Telegraph Open Fairways members can avail of the members offers on the Kittocks course immediately, the offers on the Torrance course can be availed of from the beginning of September.
