Berwick Upon Tweed (Goswick) Golf Club, Northumberland

Goswick Golf Club was laid out in 1890 by James Braid and is considered, in golfing circles, as one of his best links classics.
It was tweaked in the 1960s by Frank Pennink and lengthened in 2003 (6,803 yards from the medal tees). A true Championship Course and perhaps it's best tribute is from the R&A, who, given the opportunity to make alterations for the Open Qualifying, instructed the club to leave the course exactly as it was.
Goswick is situated just off the A1 six miles south of the beautiful and historic walled town of Berwick upon Tweed and is only an hour from either Newcastle or Edinburgh. The course is very rarely affected by the weather and is playable all year round from dedicated tees
to full greens. All this set in the most stunning Northumbrian coastal scenery – a designated area of outstanding natural beauty.
Like any true links, Goswick's best defence is the weather, but even on a quiet day it will require your best. Some of the par-4s and par-5s require you to stand tall on lofty tees and launchbrave rockets towards tiny targets littered with bunkers.
A true golfers course. Goswick also has a full sized driving range with practice pitching greens with bunkers, two putting greens and a smaller but popular practice area with practice greens. Two PGA Class A.T.A professionals in Paul Terras and David Ord run a well stocked shop and are on hand to give lessons.
The Clubhouse offers full catering facilities and visiting parties/societies are most welcome. The Club has also adopted a 'Half price for Heroes Scheme' whereby members of HM Forces can play for half the advertised green fee.
